Should I use a conventional or decoder irrigation system?

Conventional systems run a dedicated wire pair (or multi-wire) to each valve—simple and easy to troubleshoot on small sites. Decoder systems send addressed signals on a two-wire path, reducing wire count on large properties. Choose decoder when trench distance and station count make multi-wire impractical.
