Sizing Hunter PGV Valves on Residential Manifolds

Hunter PGV valves are the workhorse on residential manifolds for a reason: rebuild kits are available, solenoids swap cleanly, and the flow range covers typical spray and rotor zones.

Measure available GPM at the manifold before you pick body size. A 1.5-inch valve on a 3/4-inch meter does not make more water appear. It just adds cost and a bigger footprint in the box.

Install habits that prevent callbacks

• Union connections on both sides if the box is tight — future swaps take minutes.
• Label every valve with zone number and a one-word description (front turf, beds, parkway).
• Leave a drip loop on the solenoid wires; standing water in the box is normal after rain.
