MP Rotator vs Spray Heads: When a Swap Actually Pays Off

Most residential zones we see still run fixed spray nozzles. They work. They also dump water faster than clay soil can take it, which is why you get puddles at the curb and dry spots under trees.

Hunter's MP Rotator family throws multiple rotating streams at a lower precipitation rate. Same radius band as many sprays (roughly 8–30 ft depending on the model), but the water lands slower. On a 2:1 slope or compacted clay, that difference is the whole job.

Quick field checks

• If the zone finishes in under 10 minutes and you still see runoff, sprays are overshooting soil infiltration.
• If heads are spaced head-to-head and you keep adding minutes, try MPs before you dig a new lateral.
• Match matched precipitation — do not mix MP and spray on one valve.
