FX Path Light Spacing That Does Not Look Like an Airport Runway

Hunter Irrigation Supply·

Contractors who space path lights every six feet on center get a job that photographs clean in daylight and looks sterile after dusk. The eye reads a row of identical dots.

With FX Luminaire path fixtures we usually start wider — eight to twelve feet on a residential walk — then pull one fixture closer at turns, steps, and grade breaks. Stagger setbacks from the hardscape edge by a few inches so the line is not ruler-straight.

Practical notes

Keep lumen levels modest on path runs. You want enough light to place a foot, not enough to wash out the house facade you just uplit. Pair path lights with a couple of downlights from trees if the property allows; that soft fill makes the path fixtures look intentional instead of primary.

We carry FX path and bollard styles in common finishes. Match the finish to existing hardware on the house if you can — mixed metals fight each other under warm LED.
